When a spaceship can fly with an inertial navigator

The most common navigators in the world can’t help but get distracted and get lost when the navigation system isn’t functioning correctly.

Now, an engineering team at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) has demonstrated that inertial systems can actually fix that.

The team has built a working prototype of the system, called the inertial compass system, and is now working on an academic paper outlining its capabilities.
