How to be a modern navigator
A new navigator academy is being launched in New Lincoln, Missouri.
It is the first of its kind in the US.
Here is what you need to know.
Navigator academy – the new navigators ministryIn New Lincoln there is a new navigatory academy.
The academy will take place next month, with the aim of introducing the world to navigators in the region.
Its mission is to give the public the chance to learn about navigators through lectures, activities and workshops, with a focus on local communities.
The academy has been set up by the US Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as part of its efforts to help train navigators.
It is being run by the Association of Navigation Educators, an organisation that has been around for about two years.
Its aim is to train young people to become navigators, with an emphasis on the US and European regions, as well as a wider regional focus.
“We wanted to do something that was a local initiative that would be in the community and help the community in terms of building a bridge between New Lincoln and the rest of the country,” says Laura M. Williams, a navigator educator at the association.
“It would be a really good experience for the community.
There would be an opportunity to get some local skills and some regional skills.””
We were excited about it and we really wanted to make sure we didn’t miss any opportunities to bring in the navigators that we already have,” adds Ms Williams.
“We didn’t want to miss any of the navigational skills that we have and are very interested in bringing in more.”
The first step to this process has been an education campaign.
The association has been working with New Lincoln to train a number of navigators to teach classes.
In addition to the lectures, there are a number planned on the road, which will involve a mix of lectures, hands-on workshops, and other activities, which are being planned.
Some of the activities include:A road map of the region that will highlight local landmarks and featuresNavigator instructors will have the opportunity to teach their students how to use GPS, and they will be provided with tools and information about the navigation technology.
Participants will also have the option of getting their own maps of the area and taking their own photos of their journey.
The program will involve both local and national organisations, with students being taught by the navigator instructors themselves.
The organisation hopes to get more than a hundred navigators trained by the end of the year.
“The goal is to get the best of the best,” says Ms Williams, “and hopefully a few of the older navigators.”
What you need for an easy day on the navigates roadThis year, the association has already trained four navigators and is looking to train as many as possible.
All of them have been working for NHTSA in New York, but Ms Williams says that many more are coming to the area in the coming months.
One of those students is a local, Joe S. Williams.
He was a US Navy navigator who taught the academy at the Naval Academy, and he says he was inspired by the lessons he had taken at the navigatory school.
“I wanted to be the navigater that everyone would be learning from,” he says.
While the academy is in New Jersey, the navigation curriculum will be taught in the states capital of New York City.
Mr Williams hopes that New York can be a gateway to the US mainland for the new programme.
“If they’re ready to move out of the state, they’ll be able to access the program as they move out.
They’ll be ready to travel,” he adds.
If you have any questions about the academy or its plans, or if you have an idea for a future navigator programme, you can contact the Association.
